Vorontsov, Alexander

Little is known about his life and/or military career, working as a combat cameramen during WW2 in the Red Army.

Captain Alexander Vorontsov, a Red Army cameraman from the Soviet film crew attached to the 1st  Ukrainian Front, filmed the liberation of the death camp at Auschwitz.

On the afternoon of January 27, 1945, cameraman Alexander Vorontsov joined Russian troops to record the liberation of a labour camp.

It shows the Auschwitz site immediately after the arrival of soldiers from the Red Army First Ukrainian Front, liberated prisoners, the corpses of victims, and Soviets collecting evidence of Nazi crimes.
