Walter enlisted in the Signal Corps, June 27, 1942.
He joined the 166th Signal Photographic company, where he covered the advance of the 4th Armored Division. He was also in Ohrdruf, one of the first concentration camps liberated by the US army, April 4, 1945.
After leaving the Army, he continued photography of celebrities and the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles and ran the Charles Bower Studio in Inglewood. After that he worked for Douglas Aircraft and Boeing, before moving to Big Bear Lake and becoming a successful real estate agent with Spencer Real Estate. Retiring in the early ’80s, he and his wife moved (in 1988) to Apple Valley, where he played golf and tennis and became active in Church of the Valley.
Walter passed away on March 1, 2011.
